What are YOUR writing plans, ambitions, and hopes for 2026?
Will you finish that book manuscript or begin a new one? Will you submit a short story (or two) to a contest? How about brainstorming a month’s worth of blog posts? Or will you finally write that book review for your favorite author’s new (or almost new) novel? If you’re really stuck, go to one of those online sites that have hundreds of daily, seasonal, or holiday lists of prompts, and free write for 10 minutes several times throughout the day.
Whatever and whenever, in 2026, get to writing! (And I’m talking to myself here too!)
Happy New Year!

Still working on what I’ll write and finish and otherwise accomplish in this new year, Jackie. But yes, I do intend to get to writing!

This year, I am writing a 5-day-per-week blog on the four Gospels in the Bible. It will total 261 posts in all in 2026. I’ve started in the shortest, most succinct gospel of Mark. If you are interested in reading it, see https://jackiehouchin.life/ Mondays-Fridays.
I usually read nearly 100 books during the year, more and more in audiobook format. I hope to continue that. I do read a lot of Middle Grade or Young Adult books (they are shorter, cleaner, and action-packed).
I’ve also signed up for a couple “story-by-letter” mysteries, receiving two letters per month. I hope they are good. Sara Rossett writes one. I actually WROTE two of these serialized stories to two of my granddaughters when they were young, and a dozen “Missionary Kids” stories for kids at our church. Hmmmm….. could I do that again? If you are good and are willing to advertise, there is money in it as well.
The very best of writing adventures and experiences to you all in 2026.
